L-Shaped Dormer Conversions
Victorian terraces with a rear addition — the classic Bristol outrigger — can take a dormer over both roofs, joined into an L. It is how a terrace gains two rooms and a bathroom in one conversion.
The L-shaped dormer builds one dormer over the main roof and a second over the back addition, connected at the corner. On the right terrace that creates a main bedroom, a second room or study, and a bathroom — more like a new floor than a converted loft.
The junction between the two roofs is the craft moment: levels rarely align and the valley has to be re-engineered and weathered properly. It is detail-heavy carpentry, which suits us fine.
