2030 Ready · energy & retrofit

EPC C is coming for rentals. Arrive early.

Confirmed government policy direction points to rented homes needing EPC C by 2030 — with real money attached. Our 2030 Ready programme turns that into a plan: report, costed works, delivery, certificate. One team, staged your way.

Why now

The maths of moving early.

Three reasons landlords are planning now rather than in 2029 — stated as what the policy direction says today, because it has not yet been laid before Parliament and we won't pretend otherwise.

  • The horizon

All rented homes — existing and new tenancies — at EPC C by 2030 under the confirmed policy direction, with per-property penalties proposed at serious levels.

  • The early-mover clause

Ratings secured under the current assessment method are expected to hold for the life of the certificate — while the method itself is expected to get tougher later this decade. Early action locks in today's rules.

  • The queue

Every landlord in the country shares the same deadline. Assessor, installer and grant capacity gets scarcer — and dearer — the closer it gets.

The programme

Four stages. You choose the pace.

  1. 1

    Report

An energy assessment of your actual property — what it scores now, what reaches C, and what each measure contributes.

  2. 2

    Costed plan

The measures priced as a schedule of works you can phase — insulation, glazing, heating, ventilation — with the sensible order made explicit.

  3. 3

    Works

Fabric works delivered by our team; grant-funded measures like heat pumps and solar routed through the accredited installers those schemes require.

  4. 4

    Certification

A fresh EPC lodged at completion, so the rating is on the record — for compliance, remortgaging or sale.

Landlords with portfolios: the same four stages run across multiple properties as one programme, with works phased between tenancies. See developer & landlord services.

Straight answers

What landlords ask us first.

Is the 2030 EPC C requirement actually law?

Not yet — it is confirmed government policy direction for rented homes rather than legislation already on the books, and detail can still move. We say that plainly because trust matters more than urgency. The practical point stands either way: a costed plan now means you choose your timing instead of the deadline choosing it.

What could it cost to get a rental to EPC C?

It depends entirely on the starting point — which is the honest reason stage one is a report, not a quote. Loft-level insulation is modest; solid-wall treatment and heating changes are not. The costed plan turns the question from 'roughly what?' into 'exactly what, in which order?'.

My EPC says C already. Am I covered?

Check the date and the score. Assessment methodology is expected to change later this decade, and older certificates with marginal scores can drop when reassessed. If you're near the boundary on an ageing certificate, a reassessment now settles it for very little.

Do you handle heat pumps and solar?

Grant schemes require accredited installers for those measures, so they're delivered through accredited partners inside your plan — while our team delivers the fabric works and runs the programme as one project.

I'm a homeowner, not a landlord. Is this for me?

Yes — the same works simply mean a warmer house and lower bills, and they pair naturally with renovations and extensions, when walls are open and scaffold is already up.
