Energy Audits & Retrofit

A report, a costed plan, the works, the certificate — in that order, from one team.

Energy rules are tightening around rented homes: confirmed government policy direction points to rented properties needing EPC C by 2030, with meaningful spend caps and penalties attached. Our 2030 Ready service turns that deadline into a plan — an audit of your property, a costed schedule of works to reach the rating, delivery of those works, and the certification to prove it.

The staged structure is the point. Stage one is an energy report on your actual property — not generic advice — identifying what it would take to reach EPC C and what each measure contributes. Stage two prices those measures as a schedule of works you can phase. Stage three is delivery: insulation, glazing, heating and ventilation improvements by our team, with grant-funded measures such as heat pumps and solar routed through the accredited installers those schemes require. Stage four re-lodges the EPC so the rating is on the record.

For landlords the timing question is real: current policy direction includes spend caps, exemptions and a route to lock in compliance early — and assessment methodology is expected to change later this decade, which affects some ratings. We keep the advice current and honest, and we will tell you plainly when acting early beats waiting.

For homeowners the same works simply mean warmth and lower bills — and they pair naturally with renovation and extension projects, when walls are already open and scaffold is already up.

I can highly recommend Wilson & Cole. They did some complicated renovation work for me that involved wall stitching, replacing ceiling beams and roof struts, and a creative arrangement to put in a flat floor where it was previously rather banana shaped. They were adaptive and open to ideas, and the…

Asked and answered

The questions this page usually raises.

Is EPC C actually law for rentals?

Not yet — it is confirmed government policy direction with a 2030 horizon rather than legislation already on the books, and details can still move. That distinction matters, and it is exactly why a costed plan now beats either panic or paralysis: you know your number and can phase the work on your terms.

My EPC is a low C already — am I done?

Maybe not for long. Assessment methodology is expected to change later this decade, and marginal Cs on older ratings can drop when reassessed. If your certificate is old and your score is near the boundary, a fresh look costs little and settles it.

Do you install heat pumps and solar?

Grant-funded measures like heat pumps and solar must be installed by accredited installers under those schemes — so we route them through accredited partners as part of your schedule, while our team delivers the fabric works and coordinates the whole programme.
