What our customers say once we've gone: 28 Google reviews, read properly

We're rated 5.0 on Google from 28 reviews. Here's what customers actually say about us once the work is done, and how we ask every one of them.

Dan and Craig, who founded Wilson & Cole Developments in 2021, with the vans.

As of 1 October 2026, we're rated 5.0 on Google from 28 reviews. That's what you'll find if you search for Wilson and Cole Developments reviews, and we're proud of it. But a star average is the least useful thing on the page. So we sat down and read our reviews the way a careful customer would, looking for what people actually say once we've packed up and gone. We're Dan and Craig (Daniel Webster and Craig Cook), and this is what we found.

Wilson and Cole Developments reviews: the number, and why we don't lean on it

A 5.0 tells you people were pleased. It doesn't tell you what it was like to have a building firm in your house for 12 weeks. The words do. Read enough of them and patterns appear. Below are the ones that come up most, quoted exactly as our customers wrote them, typos and all. You can read every review in full on our reviews page and on Google.

Communication comes up again and again

More reviewers mention communication than anything else. Lisa's house needed most of its ground floor dug out after subsidence, which we wrote up in our subsidence repairs project.

"Craig was great keeping me informed of what was happening week by week…"

Lisa P., Google review, 2026

Dave had an extension and a loft conversion built over an unused garage and attic, now one of our project write-ups. His line is the one we'd keep if we could only keep one:

"Most importantly, they communicated all news both good and bad clearly."

Dave C., Google review, 2022

Steve wrote of "excellent communication from Dan throughout" (Steve P., Google review, 2023). Hannah picked out the moments that test it:

"Their communication is excellent especially with anything that was unexpected."

Hannah M., Google review, 2024

Old houses hide things. When we find one, we tell you, with the options and what each costs. Our quotes are detailed and itemised, and the price only changes if you agree the change first.

Tidiness and respect for the house

Building work is dusty. We don't pretend otherwise. What we control is how we protect the rooms you're still living in, and the state we leave them in at 5pm.

"They were professional hardworking and respectful of our home throughout the project. Everything was completed to a high standard and the site was kept clean and organised."

Harry, Google review, 2026

Emma wrote that "They kept the site as tidy and clean as possible throughout" (Emma P., Google review, 2025). We like the "as possible". It's honest. Ross went further: "our house is cleaner now than it was before they came" (Ross E., Google review, 2021). Our guide to living at home during a build explains how we keep dust where it belongs.

Integrity and honest pricing

Emma also said we were "professional, communicative and clearly had integrity in the work they were doing" (Emma P., Google review, 2025). Daniel's family came to us after a dishwasher leak flooded the ground floor of their Portishead home, and turned the repair into a remodel with bifold doors. The Portishead project page has the full story.

"Wilson and Cole were not the most expensive quote and were realistic in what needed to happen and when."

Daniel S., Google review, 2024

Realistic is the word we'd choose too. A realistic programme and an itemised price you can check line by line are worth more than a low number that grows.

People who'd been let down by a builder before

Some of our customers come to us burned. Mark had dormer roof work to sort out and did his homework first:

"Having had a problem with a cowboy builder in the past, I wanted to make sure of using due diligence before selecting a potential builder."

Mark C., Google review, 2024

He checked several builders and spoke to references before choosing us. Then: "I was able to contact Dan very easily and he always phoned back if he missed my call." Do what Mark did. Our guide on how to choose a builder in Bristol lists the checks worth making.

Plenty of work also comes through people who've seen us up close. Hannah wrote that "Dan and Craig were recommended to us through some family having completed work following a burst pipe" (Hannah M., Google review, 2024). Daniel ended his review with "I’d not hesitate to go to Dan and Craig again" (Daniel S., Google review, 2024). And Kate summed up her loft in one line: "The loft conversion is better than we imagined" (Kate G., Google review, 2022).

How we ask for reviews: everyone, the same way

Every customer is asked for a review the same way when their project finishes, whatever we think they'll say. We don't offer anything in return, and we don't suggest a rating or what to write.

That isn't only good manners. The Competition and Markets Authority's fake reviews guidance says cherry-picking positive reviews, including encouraging only satisfied customers to leave them, can break consumer law. Google's own Maps content policy bans businesses from selectively soliciting positive reviews. A 5.0 only means something if everyone was asked. Every review we show is on our reviews page, next to a link to read them on Google.

We're also TrustMark registered (licence 4264445), the Government Endorsed Quality scheme for work in and around the home.
