Flooded downstairs, rebuilt better: a Portishead reinstatement
A dishwasher leak flooded the downstairs kitchen, bathroom and office of a three-storey timber-frame home. Wilson & Cole were recommended by the claims company handling the case. With the rooms already stripped back, the owners took the opportunity to remodel rather than simply replace — including new bifold doors, which is no small thing in a timber-frame structure.
The reason we lead with this one: reinstatement is often the moment a house gets better than it was. The client's review notes we were not the most expensive quote and were realistic about what needed to happen and when — which, on a claim job, is the whole game.
The works
- Reinstatement of flood-damaged kitchen, bathroom and office
- Remodelling of the downstairs layout while the fabric was open
- Structural alterations and bifold door installation in a timber-frame building
- Full rebuild through to decoration
- Owners self-managing part of the works, supported where it helped
