Side Return Extensions
Victorian terraces come with a strip of dead alley beside the back addition. Filling the side return turns a narrow galley kitchen into a wide, light room — without giving up any garden depth.
The side return is a precision project: the new wall sits on or near the boundary, the roof needs careful glazing to pull light into the middle of the plan, and the party wall act is almost always in play (notices served by you as the owner — we brief you on exactly what and when).
Roof lights or a glazed strip along the old external wall are what make these rooms sing; without them the middle of the house goes dark. We design the structure around the glass, not the other way round.
